ICC Awareness Program 2025 at PES College of Pharmacy Phaltan
The ICC Awareness Program 2025 was organized by Phaltan Education Society’s College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan on 6 February 2025 for B. Pharmacy and D. Pharmacy girl students. The programme focused on creating awareness about the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), its objectives, composition, roles and responsibilities, complaint procedures, student rights, personal safety, and self-defence.
The programme was attended by Principal Dr. Vikram T. Deshmukh, Prof. Shrikant S. Kavitake, teaching and non-teaching staff members, along with girl students from B. Pharm and D. Pharm.
Prof. P. K. Kadam served as the Presiding Officer, while Prof. S. N. Shegar was the Faculty Coordinator. The programme was coordinated by Prof. Priya K. Kadam and Prof. Surekha N. Shegar.
The activity provided students with important information about the ICC mechanism available within an educational institution and encouraged them to understand their rights, responsibilities, safety measures, and the appropriate procedure for raising complaints.
Objective of the ICC Awareness Program 2025
The programme began with guidance from Principal Dr. Vikram T. Deshmukh, who explained the objectives behind conducting the ICC awareness activity.
The programme was specially conducted for girl students of B. Pharmacy and D. Pharmacy. Its major purpose was to make students aware of the Internal Complaints Committee and provide them with information that could help them understand how the committee functions.
Awareness about institutional support mechanisms is important because students should know where and how they can raise concerns when required. The session therefore focused on communicating the role of the ICC in a simple and understandable manner.

Awareness About the Internal Complaints Committee
An important session of the programme was conducted by Prof. Surekha N. Shegar, who delivered a presentation on ICC awareness.
Her presentation covered several important topics, including:
- Objectives of the Internal Complaints Committee
- Composition of the ICC
- Roles and responsibilities
- Hypothetical situations involving harassment
- What constitutes sexual harassment
- Procedure for filing a complaint
The presentation helped students understand the basic structure and purpose of the Internal Complaints Committee.
Instead of limiting the session to definitions, hypothetical situations were also discussed to make the subject easier for students to understand. Such examples can help students recognize inappropriate behaviour and understand when a matter may require attention or reporting.

Understanding the Composition and Role of ICC
The session also introduced students to the composition, roles and responsibilities of the Internal Complaints Committee.
Knowing about the committee is important for students because simply having an ICC within an institution is not enough; students should also be aware of its purpose and how they can approach the appropriate mechanism when necessary.
The presentation explained these areas in an organized manner and provided students with a clearer understanding of the institutional framework.
The session was designed to make students more informed about the support mechanisms available to them within the college environment.
Awareness About Different Types of Harassment
Another important part of the ICC Awareness Program 2025 was discussion of different situations related to harassment.
Situational images and hypothetical examples were used during the presentation to improve understanding. This approach helped present the topic in a practical and accessible way.
Students were introduced to situations that could help them distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behaviour. The discussion also supported the broader objective of creating a respectful and safer educational environment.

Guidance on How to File a Complaint
The procedure for filing a complaint was another important topic covered during the ICC awareness presentation.
Students were informed about how concerns can be brought before the appropriate institutional mechanism. Providing information about the complaint process is an important component of awareness because students need to know not only that a committee exists, but also how it can be approached.
The session aimed to reduce uncertainty regarding the complaint mechanism and make students more familiar with the role of the Internal Complaints Committee.
The programme encouraged students to become aware of institutional procedures and seek appropriate support whenever necessary.
Rights and Responsibilities of Girl Students
Prof. Priya K. Kadam conducted an informative session focusing on the rights and responsibilities of girl students.
The session highlighted the importance of being aware of one’s rights while also understanding individual responsibilities within the college environment.
Students were encouraged to remain alert, informed, and responsible. The discussion was particularly relevant because the programme was specifically organized for B. Pharmacy and D. Pharmacy girl students.
Along with rights and responsibilities, Prof. Kadam also provided useful self-defence and safety tips for girls.

Self-Defence Demonstration for Students
The programme also included a self-defence demonstration by Prof. Amruta S. Kavitake.
The demonstration complemented the safety guidance provided during the awareness programme. Students were not only given information about personal safety but were also introduced to self-defence through a practical demonstration.
Including a self-defence component made the programme more interactive and expanded the activity beyond the formal ICC presentation.
The combination of ICC awareness, safety guidance and self-defence made the programme useful for participating students.

Interactive and Student-Focused Awareness Program
The programme brought together several closely connected topics under one activity.
Students received information about the objectives and composition of the ICC, roles and responsibilities, harassment-related situations, complaint filing, rights and responsibilities of girl students, personal safety, and self-defence.
The use of presentations, examples, guidance and demonstration helped make the programme interactive.
The presence of the Principal, faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff also reflected the college’s involvement in conducting the awareness initiative for its students.
Coordination of the ICC Awareness Program
The programme was coordinated by Prof. Priya K. Kadam and Prof. Surekha N. Shegar.
Their sessions covered different aspects of student awareness. Prof. Surekha N. Shegar focused on the Internal Complaints Committee, including its composition, objectives, responsibilities, harassment-related situations and complaint procedure.
Prof. Priya K. Kadam focused on the rights and responsibilities of girl students as well as self-defence and personal safety tips.
Prof. Amruta S. Kavitake further supported the activity through the self-defence demonstration.
At the conclusion of the programme, Prof. Sonal B. Zite delivered the Vote of Thanks and acknowledged those involved in conducting the activity.
