Highlights of International Women’s Day Celebration 2025

International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to appreciate the achievements, resilience and contributions of women in different areas of life. The celebration at the College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan was planned with this broader purpose while also connecting the occasion with health education.

The college chose women’s health and well-being as the central subject of the program. This made the celebration particularly relevant to pharmacy students because healthcare professionals need to understand the importance of health awareness, preventive care and healthy lifestyle practices.

The activity was coordinated by Prof. Nale S. R., who was mentioned as the activity in-charge in the official report.

The program brought students, faculty members and the invited expert together in an academic environment where participants could discuss health, wellness and the importance of taking informed decisions about personal well-being.

Guest Lecture by Dr. Sujata Patil-Dadas

A major highlight of the International Women’s Day Celebration 2025 was the guest lecture delivered by Dr. Sujata Patil-Dadas.

The topic of the lecture was “Women Health and Well-being.” During the session, the speaker discussed common health issues affecting women and practical ways of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The lecture covered areas such as preventive care, nutrition, mental well-being and lifestyle choices.

For pharmacy students, such sessions can complement classroom learning by exposing them to practical healthcare discussions and the perspectives of working healthcare professionals.

Women’s health is also an important public-health subject. The World Health Organization – Women’s Health notes that women’s health extends across physical and mental health throughout the life course, and that improving women’s health is important for health equity and broader participation in society.

Focus on Women’s Health and Well-being

The guest lecture emphasized that maintaining good health involves awareness and attention to several interconnected aspects of daily life.

According to the college activity report, the session discussed preventive care, nutrition, mental well-being and lifestyle choices. These subjects helped make the program more than a ceremonial Women’s Day celebration; it became an educational activity centered on health awareness.

Preventive healthcare encourages people to pay attention to their health before problems become serious. Similarly, appropriate nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices are important components of overall well-being.

Mental well-being was another area included in the session. Including this topic alongside physical health provided participants with a broader understanding of wellness rather than limiting the discussion to a single aspect of women’s health.

An Interactive Learning Session for Students

One of the valuable aspects of the program was its interactive nature.

Students and faculty members had an opportunity to interact with the resource person, ask questions and gain useful insights about personal well-being and healthcare awareness. The official report notes that this interaction helped participants develop a deeper understanding of women’s wellness.

Interaction with an expert can be especially valuable for pharmacy students. Along with their academic studies, students benefit from opportunities to hear from healthcare professionals and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world healthcare concerns.

The session therefore contributed to both awareness and professional learning. It encouraged students to think about healthcare from a broader perspective and recognize the importance of communication, education and preventive awareness.

Importance of Health Awareness for Pharmacy Students

Pharmacy education is closely connected with public health and patient awareness. Pharmacists interact with people from different age groups and backgrounds and are an important part of the healthcare system.

Programs on women’s health can help future pharmacy professionals understand that effective healthcare includes not only medicines but also awareness, prevention, appropriate health information and responsible lifestyle choices.

A session led by a healthcare professional also gives students exposure beyond routine classroom teaching. Students can understand how health issues are approached in practice and how healthcare professionals communicate important information to individuals and communities.

The Women’s Day program therefore created a useful connection between a globally recognized occasion and the professional education of pharmacy students.

Encouraging Holistic Student Development

Educational institutions have an important role in providing opportunities beyond the regular curriculum. Guest lectures, health-awareness sessions, workshops, cultural activities and professional events can contribute to the overall development of students.

The International Women’s Day Celebration 2025 at PES College of Pharmacy Phaltan combined awareness, interaction and learning in one activity.

It also provided a platform where students and staff could come together to recognize the contributions of women while discussing health and well-being.

Such activities can encourage students to become more informed, socially aware and professionally responsible healthcare learners.

Participation of Students and Faculty Members

The event received participation from both students and staff members. According to the official activity report, 60 participants attended the program.

The involvement of faculty and students helped create an interactive environment throughout the session.

The report states that the lecture was well received and that attendees left the session better informed about taking charge of their health. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating Dr. Sujata Patil-Dadas for sharing her expertise and encouraging a healthier future for women.
