First Aid Safety Measures Seminar at College of Pharmacy & Research Center Phaltan
Phaltan Education Society’s College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan organized a First Aid Safety Measures Seminar for students and staff during the Academic Year 2024–25. The seminar was conducted on 15 February 2025 in the college auditorium with the aim of developing basic first aid knowledge, emergency awareness, and safety preparedness among participants.
The session was delivered by Hon. Prof. Zite S. B., who provided valuable information about basic first aid techniques and explained how appropriate action during an emergency can help an injured or affected person until further assistance becomes available. The activity was coordinated by Prof. Zanjurne N. R. and Prof. Kadam D. V., and a total of 40 staff members and students participated in the program.
The seminar focused on practical and important areas such as the importance of first aid during emergencies, basic life support techniques including CPR, wound management, bleeding control, emergency response planning, and evacuation procedures.
Importance of First Aid Awareness for Students
First aid awareness is an important component of safety education. An emergency may occur unexpectedly in an educational institution, workplace, public place, home, or during travel. Knowing the basic principles of first aid can help a person understand how to respond appropriately while professional medical assistance is being arranged.
For pharmacy students in particular, health and safety awareness complements their professional education. Pharmacy education is closely connected with healthcare, medicines, patient care, and public health. Activities such as the First Aid Safety Measures Seminar provide students with opportunities to expand their awareness beyond classroom-based learning.
The objective of the seminar conducted at the college was to educate both students and staff about basic first aid techniques and safety protocols so that they can respond effectively in emergency situations.

Basic First Aid Techniques Explained During the Seminar
During the seminar, Hon. Prof. Zite S. B. shared information about basic first aid techniques with the participating students and staff. The session was designed to introduce participants to actions and safety measures that can be useful during emergency situations.
The seminar helped students understand that first aid is not limited to one type of emergency. Different situations may require different responses, which is why awareness, preparedness, and timely decision-making are important.
According to the seminar report, students learned about several key areas of emergency preparedness, including basic life support, CPR, wound management, bleeding control, and emergency response and evacuation procedures.
The program therefore provided a useful platform for students to understand the broader role of safety education and emergency preparedness.
Understanding Basic Life Support and CPR
One of the important topics covered during the First Aid Safety Measures Seminar was basic life support, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The report specifically records CPR as one of the emergency-response topics introduced to students.
Basic awareness of CPR is valuable because it introduces students to the concept of responding to serious emergencies in an organized manner. For students studying in healthcare-related disciplines, exposure to such topics can strengthen their understanding of emergency preparedness and responsible action.
The photographic record on page 2 of the seminar report also shows students participating in the session while first aid and emergency-response concepts were being explained. The report notes that students learned about the importance of first aid in emergency situations, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
For detailed and current CPR guidance, students should rely on recognized healthcare and emergency-care organizations and appropriately trained professionals.

Wound Management and Bleeding Control
Another important area covered in the seminar was proper wound management and bleeding control. These are fundamental topics in first aid awareness because injuries involving wounds and bleeding can occur in many environments.
The seminar introduced students to the importance of responding appropriately to such situations. Rather than relying only on theoretical discussion, safety-oriented educational activities can help students appreciate why calmness, awareness, and proper procedures matter during emergencies.
The report identifies proper wound management and bleeding control among the main learning areas of the seminar.
For pharmacy students, such sessions also contribute to a wider understanding of healthcare responsibilities. While pharmacists have their own defined professional roles, awareness of emergency situations and basic safety measures can be valuable in healthcare and community environments.
First Aid Demonstration and Bandage Awareness
The seminar report also mentions pain-relieving techniques and the use of a Crab Bandage as part of the learning experience. Photographs included on page 2 show the speaker interacting with students during the first aid session and practical explanation.
Demonstration-oriented learning can make awareness programs more engaging because students are able to connect classroom concepts with practical situations.
Such activities can also encourage students to ask questions, observe procedures carefully, and understand why appropriate first aid training should be obtained from qualified instructors.

Emergency Response and Evacuation Procedures
First aid preparedness also involves understanding what to do during a wider emergency. Therefore, the seminar included information about emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
Emergency preparedness is especially relevant to educational institutions where large numbers of students and staff may be present at the same time. Awareness of evacuation procedures, designated exits, communication methods, and institutional safety protocols can contribute to a safer campus environment.
Students should understand that emergency response is not simply about acting quickly. It also involves remaining alert, following established procedures, avoiding unnecessary risk, and seeking appropriate professional assistance.
By including emergency-response and evacuation awareness in the seminar, the college expanded the program beyond individual first aid techniques and addressed the broader concept of campus safety.
Learning Beyond the Pharmacy Classroom
Pharmacy education includes extensive academic and practical training. However, students also benefit from activities that develop awareness of real-life healthcare and safety situations.
The First Aid Safety Measures Seminar provided an opportunity for students to learn outside the routine classroom environment. It connected health education with practical safety awareness and encouraged participants to think about their responsibilities during emergency situations.
Programs of this nature can complement pharmacy education by promoting qualities such as preparedness, observation, responsible decision-making, communication, and concern for community safety.
The involvement of both staff members and students also helped create a shared learning environment. According to the official activity report, 40 participants attended the seminar.
Positive Response from Participants
The seminar received positive feedback from participants regarding its relevance and effectiveness. The activity report describes the First Aid Safety Seminar as successful and notes that it provided students with valuable knowledge and skills for responding effectively in emergency situations.
Participant feedback is important for educational activities because it helps institutions understand whether the topic was useful and whether similar sessions should be conducted in the future.
The report recommends conducting regular training sessions to reinforce learning and help maintain a safe and prepared community.
This recommendation is particularly valuable because first aid awareness benefits from periodic reinforcement and appropriate practical training.
Contribution to a Safe and Prepared Campus
The First Aid Safety Measures Seminar reflects the college’s efforts to provide students with educational experiences that extend beyond the prescribed academic curriculum.
Safety awareness is relevant to every member of an educational institution. Students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff can all benefit from knowing institutional emergency procedures and understanding when trained medical or emergency assistance is required.
By organizing this seminar, Phaltan Education Society’s College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan provided participants with an opportunity to improve their awareness of first aid, CPR, wound management, bleeding control, emergency response, and evacuation procedures.
Such activities can contribute to building a more safety-conscious campus community while encouraging pharmacy students to develop broader awareness of health and emergency preparedness.
Conclusion
The First Aid Safety Measures Seminar at College of Pharmacy & Research Center Phaltan was an informative activity organized for students and staff on 15 February 2025. Under the guidance of speaker Hon. Prof. Zite S. B., participants were introduced to important first aid and safety concepts.
The seminar covered basic first aid techniques, CPR, wound management, bleeding control, emergency response planning, evacuation procedures, and bandage-related awareness. The positive feedback recorded in the official report indicates that participants found the program relevant and effective.
The college can continue to strengthen student awareness through similar seminars, demonstrations, workshops, and safety-training activities. For pharmacy students, these programs offer an opportunity to connect professional healthcare education with practical awareness and responsible community participation.
