Blood Donation Camp 2025 Organized at PES College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan
Phaltan Education Society’s College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on 24 January 2025 as a healthcare and social awareness activity during the Academic Year 2024–25. The programme aimed to spread awareness about voluntary blood donation and encourage students, staff members, and community members to contribute towards this important social cause.
The Blood Donation Camp was organized in association with the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) and the Maharashtra State Chemists and Druggists Association (MSCDA). The activity was conducted on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hon. Shri Jagannathji Shinde, President of AIOCD and MSCDA.
The programme demonstrated how educational institutions can encourage social responsibility alongside academic and professional development. Students and staff members actively participated in the initiative and supported the message of voluntary blood donation.

Healthcare Programme Promoting Voluntary Blood Donation
Blood donation is an important form of community service. Through this healthcare programme, the college focused on creating awareness among students about voluntary blood donation and encouraging them to understand their role in contributing to society.
The nationwide mega blood donation initiative was organized by AIOCD and MSCDA in association with PES’s College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan. The major objective of the programme was to promote blood donation awareness and encourage voluntary blood donation among college students and community members.
For pharmacy students in particular, participation in healthcare-oriented social activities complements classroom education by exposing them to community-focused initiatives and professional responsibilities.
The programme encouraged students to recognize that healthcare professionals have an important role not only in medicines and patient care but also in public health awareness and community service.
Guidance by Principal Dr. Vikram Deshmukh
An important part of the programme was the guidance provided by Principal Dr. Vikram Deshmukh. He addressed the students and motivated them regarding the importance of blood donation.
His guidance helped reinforce the social purpose behind the activity and encouraged students to participate responsibly in healthcare awareness initiatives.
The programme also included the Pharmacists’ Oath, which was taken by students and staff members. This added professional significance to the occasion and reminded pharmacy students about their responsibilities towards the healthcare profession and society.

Pharmacists’ Oath by Students and Staff Members
The participation of students and staff members in the Pharmacists’ Oath was another notable part of the programme.
Pharmacy education is closely connected with healthcare and public welfare. Therefore, professional activities that remind students about ethical responsibilities can contribute positively to their development as future pharmacy professionals.
The oath-taking activity brought students and faculty members together and complemented the social objective of the Blood Donation Camp.
It also provided students with an opportunity to understand that becoming a pharmacist involves more than academic achievement. Professional responsibility, ethical behaviour, commitment to healthcare, and service to society are equally important aspects of the profession.

Students Participate as Blood Donors
Students actively participated in the Blood Donation Camp as donors. Their participation reflected enthusiasm towards the social objective of the programme and their willingness to contribute to a meaningful healthcare cause.
The camp received an encouraging response from participants. College students and staff members came forward to donate blood and support the initiative.
Participants appreciated the opportunity to contribute to a noble cause, and many also expressed interest in continuing to donate blood regularly in the future.
For students, participating in such activities can help develop a stronger sense of social awareness and responsibility. College activities focused on healthcare and community service provide opportunities for students to understand how individual actions can contribute to wider public welfare.

Staff Members Lead Through Participation
Staff members of the college also actively participated in the Blood Donation Camp as donors. Their involvement provided strong support to the initiative and demonstrated their commitment towards community welfare.
When teachers and staff members actively participate in social initiatives, they can motivate students through their actions. The participation of both faculty members and students helped make the programme a collective college activity rather than simply an awareness session.
The enthusiastic participation of the college community also strengthened the message that voluntary blood donation is an important social contribution.

Encouraging Social Responsibility Among Pharmacy Students
A pharmacy institution has an important role in developing not only academic knowledge but also professional and social awareness among students.
Activities such as blood donation camps and healthcare awareness programmes provide students with opportunities to participate in community initiatives beyond regular classroom teaching.
The Blood Donation Camp 2025 brought together healthcare awareness, professional responsibility, and community service. It encouraged students to understand the importance of voluntary participation in social causes.
Such activities can contribute to the development of qualities such as teamwork, responsibility, leadership, empathy, and community awareness. These qualities are valuable for students as they prepare for their future professional careers.
For pharmacy students, healthcare-oriented activities are particularly relevant because their future profession involves interaction with patients, healthcare professionals, and the wider community.

Positive Response to the Blood Donation Initiative
The Blood Donation Camp 2025 received a positive response from students and staff members. Participants came forward to donate blood and appreciated the opportunity to contribute towards a meaningful social cause.
An important outcome of such awareness programmes is their ability to encourage people to think about voluntary blood donation beyond a single event.
The interest shown by participants in continuing to donate blood regularly reflected the positive impact of the programme.
The activity therefore served not only as a blood donation camp but also as an awareness initiative encouraging students and staff members to understand the value of voluntary participation in healthcare and social service activities.
Collaboration for Community Welfare
The organization of the camp in association with the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) and the Maharashtra State Chemists and Druggists Association (MSCDA) highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and professional organizations.
Such collaborations can provide students with broader exposure to professional and social initiatives while creating opportunities for educational institutions to contribute to community welfare.
The activity was coordinated at the college level by Prof. Zanjurne N. R. and Prof. Zite S. B., under the guidance of Principal Dr. V. T. Deshmukh.
The coordinated efforts of the organizers, faculty members, students, and participating organizations contributed to the successful conduct of the Blood Donation Camp.
A Meaningful Healthcare and Social Activity
The Blood Donation Camp 2025 at PES College of Pharmacy & Research Center, Phaltan successfully brought together students, faculty members, and organizers for a healthcare-focused social initiative.
Through blood donation awareness, motivational guidance, the Pharmacists’ Oath, and voluntary participation in blood donation, the programme emphasized the importance of contributing positively to society.
The activity also provided pharmacy students with an opportunity to participate in an initiative closely connected with healthcare and public service.
