Encouraging Creativity Beyond the Classroom

Education is not limited to classroom lectures and examinations. Co-curricular activities can provide students with opportunities to develop creativity, confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and time management.

The Best Chef Competition 2026 was organized with this broader approach to student development. Students enthusiastically participated and prepared a variety of food items, including snacks, desserts, and healthy recipes, within a specified time limit.

The activity encouraged participants to apply their ideas creatively while paying attention to the preparation and presentation of their dishes.

D. Pharm Students Showcase Their Culinary Skills

During the competition, participants prepared dishes using the available ingredients or recipes selected for the activity. Students were expected not only to prepare their dishes but also to present the finished food items effectively.

An important part of the activity was explaining the ingredients, nutritional value, and method of preparation of the dishes. This made the competition more informative and encouraged students to think beyond taste and appearance.

Participants therefore had an opportunity to demonstrate multiple abilities through a single activity—from planning and preparation to presentation and explanation.

Judging Criteria for the Best Chef Competition

The participants were evaluated on several important aspects of their performance. The judging criteria included:

  • Taste of the prepared dish
  • Presentation of the food item
  • Creativity in preparation and presentation
  • Hygiene maintained during the activity
  • Time management while completing the dish

The judges observed participants throughout the activity and evaluated their overall performance according to these criteria.

This approach ensured that students had to focus not only on preparing tasty food but also on cleanliness, creativity, organization, presentation, and completing their work within the allotted time.

Promoting Awareness of Nutrition and Hygiene

One of the valuable elements of the competition was the emphasis placed on explaining the nutritional value of ingredients. Students were encouraged to understand what they were preparing and communicate relevant information about their recipes.

Hygiene was also included as an important judging criterion. Maintaining cleanliness while preparing and presenting food is an essential practice, and including it in the competition helped reinforce the importance of responsible food handling.

Activities of this nature can complement academic education by creating opportunities for students to apply practical skills, communicate their ideas, and participate actively with their classmates.

Enthusiastic Participation by D. Pharmacy Students

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 50 D. Pharmacy students. Photographs included in the activity report show students actively preparing and presenting food during the event.

The participation and interaction among students created an engaging atmosphere on campus. Such activities provide a refreshing platform where students can explore interests outside their regular curriculum while developing confidence and interpersonal skills.

The event concluded with recognition of the successful participants, and the title of “Best Chef” was awarded to the winners based on their performance during the competition.
